A Very Special Custom Gown
Beautiful Hannah came to us with a unique brief, to reimagine her mother's wedding gown into something new and beautiful for her wedding day - the same gown her mother wore to marry her father in 1979!
The Hera Team carefully re-tailored the gown into a beautiful delicate overlay and added hand-sewn Lavant Petals to bring it all together.
“Growing up I loved trying on my mum’s wedding dress. To me her wedding look was always so beautiful – a dress designed by her uncle, ballet shoes on her feet and daisies in her hair. Although our wedding was set for nearly 40 years to the day since mum and dad were married, it still seemed perfect to me and with no alteration to the fit needed it was meant to be! Unfortunately, the underdress wasn’t in great condition so we set out to try and find something new to go under the silk over-piece. Katie of Hera Couture was amazing and helped me to find the perfect dress, she also lovingly restored mum’s dress for us, adding the cherry blossoms from my veil to the bottom of mum’s dress – a way to make it my own…
…I wore mum’s dress for the ceremony, a lovely surprise for our friends and family, and then slipped it off to just wear the heavy silk slip from Hera Couture for the reception and dancing…
…Our idea was that we were inviting 135 of our closest friends and family to join us for dinner at our home. We wanted the day to feel intimate, colourful, genuine and joyful. For us the day was all about people, the people who had supported us on our shared and individual journeys so we wanted it to feel personal and not too bridal. We wanted the takeaway for our guests to be a feeling rather than a look.”
